Mogumber 2010 Race Report and Hot Rod Show

With Mogumber 240 and the Hotrod/Perth Street Car display at Burswood done and dusted, all our focus is now on the Gascoyne Dash.

Mogumber was a good test of the new suspension setup, the King triple bypass shocks have made a huge difference to the handling, not just in hitting bumps hard but the drivability. We prologued well with the top 3 Extreme 4WD Class all within 3 seconds of each other, so a tight race was to come. Day one was rainy and muddy, we have a good run but had brake fail issues and this caused us to enter the pits to check what was going on, thinking brake line damage. All looked OK so we continued at a slower cautious pace with some exciting stages.............found out after the days racing that is was a collapsed front wheel bearing!  

Day two was a better day with the Landcruiser all sorted but we had 12 minutes to make up. We were at the back of the field which made it a bit more difficult as we had to pass some slower vehicles, but there was no dust so it was fun to catch and pass other competitors. We had a great day with some good racing, making up good time, and ended up being the first Extreme 4WD to cross the finish line. We placed 3rd in class within 2 minutes of the wining vehicle, we managed the fastest day 2 times in the class and were happy with result. It was a great event, a special thanks to Dan Rogers for the overnight parts delivery service and Lee for the use of his tyres, also thanks to the organisers and to our sponsors for their ongoing support.

We had two weeks to clean and polish the car before the WAORRA offroad racing display at the Buswood Dome Hotrod/Perth Street Car show. It was clean but nowhere near to the detail as the other cars at the show! The offroad racing display was well received with plenty of interest being shown in the 6 race cars on display.

Some minor works are planned prior to the Gassy Dash, where hopefully we can utilise the new suspension and better last year’s 2nd in class...............
